Dstl Porton Down, Salisbury, Wiltshire
Apprenticeship Level 3 (Advanced)
Interested in learning how electronic engineering and technology can solve some really interesting problems? This flexible apprenticeship can open the door to a range of Dstl careers – and help you find unexpected talents inside yourself. Learning vital skills within an internationally recognised team, you’ll gain qualifications as you help to protect the UK.
With this structured training programme you’ll divide your time between the classroom and an engineering or electronic workshop. Through academic learning and practical, hands-on work, you’ll build your expertise in electronics, fault finding, equipment testing, mechanical manufacturing, RF (Radio Frequency) fundamentals, micro controllers, and coding and programming.
With this apprenticeship, you’ll move from full-time college in the first year, to placements with day release in the second. In years 3 and 4, you’ll have full-time work placements with us, which will finish with an End Point Assessment.
Throughout the four years, you’ll need the motivation to learn independently and take responsibility for your development. Along with this dedication and determination, you’ll need at least five GCSEs or equivalent, including Maths, at grade 4 or above.
